Introduction

Typography is the art and techniques of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs. Type glyphs are created and modified using a variety of illustration techniques. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning). - Wikipedia - Typography

Typography has been playing an important role in different kind of mediums such as publishing, packaging, television. It's the way to present information to our audiences in text form.

None of these sites (out of the few with enough promise for me to click on) look bad or anything, but I'm just not seeing what makes the typography stand out as 'beautiful'. Maybe next time you could add a paragraph or about what you find striking about each example. Thanks for sharing.

Harry Roberts Fri, 8th May 2009 If I'm totally honest, my site doesn't use great typography. Benek is right, so many more sites with much more going on. I make more of a typographical attempt with my portfolio site, but iamharryroberts.com isn't anything special, in my opinion.

Benek Thu, 7th May 2009 I think a more accurate title would have been "20 websites with BIG typography". There are a lot of sites out there with better type than these.

Kevin May Mon, 4th May 2009 Well I learned something today. If you take a basic font and make it huge with a nice color, it means your website has "beautiful typography"... yeah I think not.
