TikTok is not the easiest social media to navigate for businesses. It is aimed at users averaging 25 years of age and is mostly filled with videos that make people laugh. However, that does not stop brands to use it for marketing purposes. And why wouldn’t they? After all, it is one of the fastest growing app in the world. They all follow photo editing trends as well, because this is the way to go on TikTok. Here is what you need to know on the subject.

Videos and Photos on TikTok

TikTok is more an app about videos than photos, but that doesn’t mean you don’t find these as well. When they appear, they are often found in photo carousels, which gives the impression of a video, as well. But before they make their way on there, they usually go through editing hacks. In fact, creators make sure that their images follow the route that will include them with others; as they go for a TikTok photo editing trend. You may wonder why companies want their image to be similar to others. In fact, usually what brands desire, is to be different. But on this social media, what works best, is to copy others. And so, there are editing photo trends that companies use, just to ride the wave.

How do TikTok Trends work?

It seems like almost everyday a new TikTok trend is created. Sometimes, they last 24 to 48 hours, while others will last longer, sometimes weeks and even months. When it comes to the photo editing trend, though, they are more long term. Once one is accepted, it seems like it becomes almost a tradition to reposition the settings in a precise distribution mode. The most popular trend is the one that renders the pictures more alive, by adjusting the brightness on them. But there are others as well, that create various moods, which are popular and long-lasting.

However, when it is not about pictures, the trends can be about a large variety of other elements. As an example, songs often become popular on TikTok. They can be old or new. Someone creates a funny video about it, using the lyrics or the music, and everyone follows by making their own version. It is often comical, with many being self-deprecating. People are not worried about having others laughing at them. In fact, they start to do so by themselves. This is what complicates the process for brands. If you take yourself too seriously on this app, chances are, you will not be welcomed, and most certainly not liked. And so, marketing directors need to find a way to make their photos and videos funny, yet all the while keeping the brand’s name serious.

What is the best solution for Brands?

The idea is to show the logo on the background, while creating content that doesn’t have especially to do with the brand. This way, users enjoy the content while noticing the brand, and they associate the name to something fun and cool. That is what Chipotle does, and it is working quite well for them, with posts that reach over 2M likes.
