Introduction

I was assigned to work on a wordpress project. Basically I have to do some modifications on a premium template and add in plugins. I have not worked on wordpress for quite a while and I realized that searching for the right plugins are really killing me. I found a lot of plugins, but they are either outdated or not compatible with the new wordpress. That remind me of the reason why Queness is not powered by wordpress. It takes too much times to find the right plugins and plugins that do exactly what I want.

Anyway, in the end, I found what I want and the following is the list of plugins I think they are pretty useful and I'm sure they are working with the latest built of wordpress.

  • Vote it up

Wanted to create a vote widget for your blog? This is a quick solution and I have tested it, it works pretty well.
  • TubePress

The quickest way to integrate video gallery from youtube or vimeo. After the installation, you will get a set of admin control in the backend. However, I do have a little bit of display issue but I manage to solve it by putting a div with clear:both in the template.
  • NextGEN Gallery

Yep, how can we missed a photo gallery for wordpress. Also, it comes with different layouts and configuration that i'm pretty sure will meet your needs.
  • Filosofo Home Page Control

A nice little plugin which allows you to set your desires page as the homepage.
  • Top 10

It took me a while to find a famous post plugins, and I guess this is the best, but if you know something better than this, do let me know.
  • TDO Mini Forms

This plugin allows you to add highly customisable forms that work with your Wordpress Theme to your website that allows non-registered users and/or subscribers (also configurable) to submit and edit posts and pages. New posts are kept in "draft" until an admin can publish them (also configurable).
  • RB Internal Links

A great plugin for wordpress plugin. It can help you to insert pages or posts link into your content. The good thing about it is, it uses id to link pages, so it wouldn't matter if you've changed other pages, it will work.
  • Poll Daddy Polls and Rating

You have no ideas how long did it take to find a working and compatible poll for the new wordpress website. In the end, I stick with Poll daddy even though you have to sign up an account at polldaddy.com.

Great list, although The Filosofo HP Control is actually for WP 1.x. The internal links plugin looks very useful. Will have to check into it.
