Startup framework is one of its kind, a comprehensive UI framework that is actually easy to implement and highly reusable to create actual websites. With its hundred of components, you can create countless of unique responsive layouts easily.

This framework is designed to help designers, developers and companies to create a website for their startups with minimum of time spent. Instead of just UI elements, startup framework has organising different set of UI elements into blocks. Each block represent a section of a website such as website header, different design of header, content layout, blog, pricing table, projects/portfolios and footer.

Design

Startup framework is styled with the trendy flat design. With the combination of saturated RGB solid colours and full screen cover images, creating elegant and modern websites is no longer a difficult task. If you need something real quick, Startup framework has different type of header, content, footer, projects, price, blog, crew and contact layouts. What you have to do is - mix and match and build your own unique layout. All blocks and components are made in the same style and designed to complement each other.

Under the Hood

As usual, I like to inspect the source of a website. Startup framework is built on the flexible and reliable Twitter Bootstrap v2.3.2. Therefore, you'll get all the trendy technologies grid layout with wide screen support, responsive layout and retina ready. It comes with CSS and LESS version, If you have been using LESS, that will be another bonus for you. So, if you want to incorporate your own design, the HTML markup and CSS codes are well-formatted and organised, it won't be hard to customize it to your own design.

Also, Startup framework is based on Flat UI Free version, if you've previously purchased Flat UI Pro, you can integrate it into Startup framework and add new elements.

The documentation

I always appreciate developers who make good documentation. jQuery, WordPress and Bootstrap's documentation are pretty decent, and I'm about to add Startup framework into the list. I particularly like how all the blocks are listed out in a single page and grouped in different categories. For people who doesn't know the hardcore coding, but know a little bit of HTML and CSS, this thing is a great stuff. Besides that, you can also check out the samples to get some inspirations too.

The following image shown how each footer block design are render in a single page:

It's really simple, look for the footer you like, and mouse over the "?" button will reveal more information you need to know to use this block.

Once you click on the "?" button, a side bar will appear with instruction of how to use this block. It also includes the CSS path and all the HTML markup you need. Just copy and paste and you will have the exact design, except for some images which usually you will use your own.

Conclusion

Startup framework is another blessing to us who want something quick but without having to suffer during the development process but yet, you'll get a high quality and highly presentable website. It's another type of WYSIWYG and I came out with a simple workflow.

  1. Identify what you need in a website. A typical portfolio website would have website header, about us content section, projects/portfolios section, contact form and end with a nice footer.
  2. Then, go to the Startup framework documentation, choose the block design for each section.
  3. Create a HTML doc, and copy and paste code according to your website layout.
  4. Once you get the structure and layout working, you can start customizing the content. Fill in your copy for each of the section, create images for your portfolios.
  5. Finally, add some touch on the colours, font etc to make it more personal.
