I have became a freelancer for a few months now. It took great courage to walk away from a full time job to freelancing! It's a great experience. Ever since the nine-to-five routine is no longer applied to me, I found myself have more personal time.

However, as a freelancer, it's almost like running your own business. Self-discipline, dedication and time management are very important to avoid slacking, stay productive and meet deadlines. Many times, I tend to mix my works and personal life altogether which took me a while to find a balance between it.

Here we have Grant Snider, who created a comic which highlights seven very important rules for freelancers. I found it quite true and would like to share with all of you.

Just in case you can't view the comic:

  1. Surround yourself with inspiration
  2. Maintain a strict dress code
  3. Create boundaries between work and home
  4. Balance input and output
  5. Sleep, occasionally
  6. Reflect on the world around you
  7. Don't be afraid to promote your work
